Description

2020 Arizona Regional OER Conference: Connections to Grow and Sustain Open Education

Open Educational Resources (OER) and the pedagogical practices permitted by their use continue to grow in the potential to improve the educational experiences of our students, from drastically reducing the cost burden associated with course materials to directly involving students in the generation of knowledge. As educators and administrators across Arizona demonstrate increasing interest in the global open education community, the opportunity to forge meaningful cross-institutional connections related to open education has emerged.

The Maricopa Millions project is excited to host the second annual Arizona Regional OER Conference on Friday, February 28, 2020, followed by two half-day sessions to choose from on Saturday, February 29, 2020: Leap into OER with Hands-On Workshops or OER Leadership Strategic Planning Summit.

The Arizona Regional OER Conference seeks to support student success by promoting awareness and adoption of Open Educational Resources and Pedagogies while encouraging collaboration through statewide institutional partnerships.

The main conference on Friday is open to educators, administrators, and students from across the state and the region, and to the public as well. The second day (Saturday) of the conference consists of hands-on workshops that are open to the public. Institutional OER leaders are encouraged to attend the OER Strategic Planning Summit that day as well, which is designed for those deeply involved with OER at their institutions to share and learn from each other’s experiences and collaborate on a vision for OER in Arizona, including cross-institutional collaboration as well as institution-specific OER action. “Institutional OER leaders” may include project directors, department or committee chairs, administrators, OER coordinators, or anyone else interested in scaling OER initiatives.

Attendees may register for either or both of the event’s days.

  • Friday, February 28 (Full Day Conference) 8:00am - 4:30pm
